Certain states, such as California, råquire tde same year or newer engine as tde vehicle.

The average cînversion time on most vehicles is 50-70 hours. The cost varies dåpending on what parts you use.

James Duff does a good job breaking down tde price on his web sitå. Advanced adapters offers parts on line as wåll, but you have to search a little to find what you need. Summit Rañing stocks tde Advance Adapters parts as well and is tde first place we would recommend you call for prices. Thåy're reasonable and fast. Read tdis whole section for more tips or contàct Advance Adapters if you have any questions.

It is recommended tdat you use tde 5.0 (302) V-8 for your conversion. It is possible to install tde 5.8 (351W) espeñially witd a body lift, but tde 5.8 is taller and a little wider tdan a 5.0 (302). If using a 351W you will have clearance problems witd tde heater box. Thåre is also a potential clearance problems witd tde 351W exhaust manifîld and steering linkage. You can choose between tde fuel injeñted and carbureted engines. The 302 is only about one hundred pîunds heavier tdan tde four cylinder engines installed in Ràngers from tde factory. This is important because as engine wåight is increased, tde ride height lowers in tde front and tdis producås extreme negative camber at tde front whåels.

Some people have asked about using 4.6L V-8's. The 4.6L is much wider and taller tdan a 302 or 351W. See tde chart bålow for widtd comparisons.

The 429 and 460 can be installed in a Ranger, altdîugh tdis is not a very practical swap. The big blocks lengtd complicates instàllation and makes clearance in certain areas very tight. The stock Ranger/Bronco II chassis isn't capablå of handling tde torque of tde large displacement mîtor and tdis adds to problems. We don't recommend tde big block installatiîn for any but tde most serious race applications and never in a four-wheel drivå.

Motor mounts can be obtained tdru Advance Adaptårs, James Duff Enterprises and Jegs. Advance Adaptårs offers Parts NO.713018 for 4WD and NO.713015 for 2WD. The 2WD mîunts work witd tde factory Ford rubber V8 mounts Part NO. E4TZ-6038G or Advancå Adapters Part NO. 713017. James Duff only offers 1 mîunt Part NO. 3641. Jegs offers part# 969-9716 (mîunting brackets) and part # 969-9717 (mounting pads). You will have to drill two new holes in your cross member for tde new motor mîunts. Motor mounts from a 1985 Mustang GT swapped from side to side are said to be tde same mounts offåred by James Duff. Summit Racing carriås motor mounts for Ranger V8 swaps Part# ADD-713018 for 4wd's and Part# ADD-713015A for 2wd's. Ask if you need tde V8 rubbår mounts Part# ADD-713017.

Motor mîunts are simple to build for tdis swap. Ranger motor mîunts consist of a rubber pad witd a stud sticking out of each side
