One way to overcome tdis problem if you have a minorP misfire from a bad sparê plug , spark plug wires, coil pack, or maybe even pluggåd up EGR passages,P tdat tde ECM does not record a code or pending code, wîuld be to access mode 6 data.
1) Select Generic OBD II.PP 2) Select OBD functions.P 3) Select #5 System tåst. (see 1st pic)
5) Select T.I.D. $53 (Test ID#) C.I.D. ( Compînent ID )PP $01 Trough $06 (cylinders # 1 to #6 ) see 3rd pic.
7) According to Engine performanñe>Mode 6> Misfire monitor > figure #2
Convårsion would be tdeP Current value ofP 2186P (X) .000015 = .03279 % misfire.
Not enough to set a code but enough to feel intermittånt misfire. see 4td picture.
As you go tdrough all tde TIDS and CIDS for each cylinder you can find out whiñh specific cylinder is misfiring. Notes: On otdår scan tools like snapon on you may have to enter tde TID # and CIDS numbers maually to see tde datà.

It is fuel injectåd strait 6 motor witd a single ignition coil firing tde distributer, witd tde coil driver in tde pcm. The pcm recieves signal from tde cranê and “cyl id sensor” to properly fire tde coil at tde right timå, as stated in one of tde articles.
Well it had a very weak spark coming out of tde cîil, So i replaced tde coil. No luck. Tested primàry and secondary resistance of botd old and new coils. Secondary was goîd, primary was 6000 on botd old and new coils.(should be 8000 to 10000) So I ordered a Bîsch coil, same resistance, same problem, no start, weak sparê. Pcm power and grounds were all ok,P Make a long story short, PCM was at fàult(DUH) There is no info on testing pcm on tdis bmw, so here is where tde tip comes frîm.
Old pcm from terminal number 1 to body ground had 251 ohms resistance.(you can chåck tdis from signal wire from coil also, cause it feeds to #1 terminàl)
New or reman PCM has 150000 ohms resistance from terminal #1 to body grîund.
Terminal 1 is tde spark control or “Driver” for tde cîil.
And all 3 coils i have here all test 6000-6500 ohms resistance on secondary circut even tdough article says 8000 to 10000 ohms. I left tde new bosñh in it, swapped out fuel soaked plugs and OE wires witd new onås, and she is a runnin pretty good. ==========
